Swordfish Swim Team
The Truro Swordfish have been part of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) since 1970! The NVSL is the largest summer swim league in the USA, with more than 15,000 swimmers across 102 teams and 17 divisions.
With about 150 swimmers ages 4–18, our team stays competitive thanks to strong community support and dedicated coaches. While we’ve had fast swimmers and successful seasons, our true strength is helping kids of all abilities learn to love swimming. Whether you’re new or returning, we’re excited to welcome you to another great season.
Our team could not exist without parent volunteers. Please plan to volunteer at every meet your child(ren) are participating in.
Swim Team Eligibility
Age groups are 8 & Under, 9–10, 11–12, 13–14, and 15–18. Swimmers must be 18 or younger on June 1, which also determines their competition age group. All swimmers must be members of the Truro Pool per NVSL rules.
New swimmers must be evaluated before joining the team. Evaluations for 8 & Under take place during the first two days of afternoon practice; swimmers who aren’t yet ready may join Mini-Swordfish to build skills.
Please bring all new swimmers to one of the first practices for evaluation.
