Mini-Swordfish Eligibility
Mini‑Swordfish gives our youngest swimmers a fun, supportive way to join the team and prepare for the 8 & Under group. Minis work toward swimming 25m freestyle and backstroke. There is no minimum age, and experienced older swimmers serve as Mini Coaches.
Note: This is not a learn‑to‑swim program; it bridges the gap between swim lessons and the developmental team.Mini‑Swordfish Requirements
- Comfortable putting head underwater
- Able to separate from parents during practice
- Can move through the water (not walk) ~10 feet
- Ready to practice and work toward swimming without a kickboard
Which Group Is Right for My Child?
New Mini evaluations occur during the first two days of practice. If not yet ready for Minis, families are refunded and encouraged to pursue swim lessons.Coaches make all final placement decisions.
What’s Expected of Minis
Minis are encouraged to participate in B Meets—whether using a kickboard, swimming across the dive well, or completing a full 25m. A Mini Coach may accompany them in the water for confidence. Minis are also welcome at all team social events, including Wednesday activities and Friday pep rallies.
