Parents and Practices
Parents are welcome at practices. For 8 & under and Mini Swordfish, a parent or guardian must remain on deck in case of emergency.
Parents should not approach the lanes or interact with swimmers or coaches during practice, as this distracts both swimmers and coaches. Once practice begins, coaches are in charge until it ends.
If you have questions or concerns or need to speak with a coach, please do not interrupt practice. Instead, contact a Team Rep or email [email protected], and we’ll coordinate with the coaches.
Practices
Practice times are set by age group. We hold weekday afternoon practices while FCPS is in session, starting the Tuesday after Memorial Day, practice moves to weekday mornings.
Consistent attendance is the best way for swimmers to improve, and all swimmers are encouraged to come as often as possible.
Swim Clinics
Clinics are one‑hour sessions that focus on specific strokes or skills for designated age groups. Clinics are encouraged but not required. Swimmers should come with a suit, cap, and goggles.
Age groups rotate based on team needs, and practicing up or down isn’t allowed.
Clinic schedules are announced as schedules allow.
