Swordfish Updates
Hello Swordfish Parents!
There are only 83 days until the pool opens and we are getting excited for Swordfish season. We had the opportunity to attend the NVSL seeding meeting today and are thrilled to be in Division 11 this season with Mosby Woods, Greenbriar, Kings Ridge, Daventry, and Brookfield.
We are also happy to share that we have set our coaching rooster for the 2024 season. In December, we announced that we hired new Head Coach, Sarah Mansfield, a graduated NCAA D1 swimmer and current coach at VLAC swim club, to lead the Swordfish. To assist Sarah, we are thrilled to welcome back Ben Brandt, as well as, Ian Wallace, Dylan Ahrens, Sarah Backmeyer, and Finlay Monette. We are also thrilled to have Leah James on our coaching staff full time this summer. Learn more about all our coaches by clicking here.
Things are shaping up for a great summer, but we still have some critical volunteer positions to fill before the season starts. We are in need of someone(s) to lead concessions and social this season. Additionally, as we mentioned in the fall, if you (or someone you know) is interested in being team rep(s) please reach out. We would love to have you shadow or share the season with us.
Registration is now open! Visit the swimtopia homepage to learn more and register. New this year: We have added Minis practices to our evening practice schedule while school is still in session. Additionally, we have a new option for paying registration fees (though you can still mail in a check). Please note, that this platform, zeffy, charges no fees to Truro swim for use of it’s platform, however, they do request a tip when you check out to help support the platform. You can modify the tip by choosing other and changing the top to any amount of your choosing including $0.
Finally, we are lining up sponsors to help support the swim and dive programs. If you own a small business or would like to personally sponsor the Swordfish this season, please check out our Become a Swordfish Sponsor page on Swimtopia. Sponsorships help us cover the rising costs of everything it takes to run the summer swim program, so please consider sponsoring and/or sharing our sponsorship link with others.
We are in the process of updating the website with all the great information we learned today, including our 2024 schedule, so check back for updates.
Finally, be on the lookout for an invite to a pot luck the first Friday of practice (6/7) so we can all be together before Saturday meets begin.
We appreciate your commitment to the program and willingness to help us provide an amazing season to the Swordfish.
