Swordfish Things to Know Week of 6/9 - CORRECTED

    Hello Swordfish Families!

We have a great week ahead…here are some important things to note:

    • Tomorrow is the deadline to declare your swimmer’s availability for Saturday’s meet (6/15). Please be sure to go into Swimtopia and RSVP for your swimmer(s) by 5pm tomorrow. *Note: Your RSVP lets us know your availability. Swimmers and strokes are selected by the Coaches. While you are RSVPing your swimmer(s) please be sure to sign up for a job at Saturday’s home meet.
    • Practices will continue to run in the evenings through Wednesday, 6/12.
    • The last 15 minutes of tomorrow’s 9-12 practice (6/10) will be used to get some unofficial times for our Swordfish who missed time trials yesterday.
    • Morning practices begin Thursday, 6/13. The schedule is as follows:
      • 8&Unders: 7:45-8:30
      • 9-12s: 8:30-9:30
      • 13-18: 9:30-10:30
      • Minis: 10:30-11:00
    • On Thursday evening parents will be notified if their swimmer is selected to swim on Saturday. Coaches will share the line up with the swimmers during Friday morning practices.
    • Friday, 6/14 is our first pep rally of the season. We will be decorating the parking lot, making posters for the opposing team, and writing good luck notes. One of our team goals for this season is pursuit of the Divisional team sportsmanship award and we are planning to go all out to make our visitors feel the welcoming Truro spirit. We need a few volunteers to help our swimmers write supportive messages. You can sign up to help and RSVP via swimtopia.
    • Our first home meet is Saturday, 6/15. The team theme for the meet is Pirates and swimmers are encouraged to come dressed like a pirate.
    • All A meet swimmers should wear the team suit. If it is not possible to get a team suit before Saturday’s meet, please be sure to wear a swimsuit that does NOT have the logos of another team. Additionally, please note that swimsuits cannot be tie backs.
    • If your swimmer(s) still need a suit, you can go to Suit Up in University Mall or order online here: https://shopumall.com/collections/truro-swordfish.
    • It is against NVSL rules to wear a swim cap with the name or logo of any team other than the swimmer’s NVSL team. We have latex swim caps available for any swimmer who needs one and will be selling silicone caps at concessions. The only logo permitted on a swim cap is the Swordfish logo. Swimmers may also wear plain swim caps or caps without writing or logos.
    • On the heels of our first A meet Saturday is our first B meet on Monday, 6/17. (Sorry for the back-to-back home meets). Please RSVP, and like time trials, select the strokes your swimmer(s) would like to swim. Swimmers are allowed to swim up to 2 events plus IM. Additionally, if your swimmer swam an event at the A meet on Saturday and placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd they cannot swim that event at the B meet. On occasion Coach Sarah may determine a different choice would be better for the swimmer, if this happens, she will speak to them about changing their selection.
    • MINIS WILL SWIM at the B meet on 6/17! It is the first event of the meet and minis coaches will be available to get in the water to assist them if needed.
    • If you are still reading this, thank you! These messages will get shorter as the season goes on. Last thing (promise)…all events (meets and socials) are now open to RSVP and to sign up to help.

    Go Swordfish!
