    2026 Social Schedule

    Social Events

This job has changed this year with a growing level of volunteer burnout and increased numbers of families with 2 working parents.

We have assigned each social event to an age group. Your age group may choose to trade your event with another age group but we tried to fit the event with an age group that has high attendance for the event.

If your age group chooses to not plan the event, the event will not happen.

Please visit https://truroswordfish.swimtopia.com/ for information and to see any additional events. The Calendar tabs will continue to be updated throughout the season.

    VOLUNTEERS

The Truro Swordfish Swim Team is a non-profit organization run entirely by parent volunteers. The only paid employees are the coaches. Every other aspect of running the team – all the swim meets & every social event – is only possible through the hard work & dedication of many volunteers.

We are always looking to add to our list of Officials for meets:

    • Timers
    • Data Entry
    • Place Recorder
    • Starter
    • Stroke and Turn Judge

Want to be a Meet Official?

Parents who would like to get involved as a stroke and turn judge, a starter or referee will need to take free training offered by the NVSL. Check out the many training opportunities provided by the NVSL here! We can’t run a meet without people trained in these roles, please consider getting trained!

    Open Volunteer Spots

We are thankful and excited so many parents are returning as volunteers to support the Swordfish!! We will be reaching out in the upcoming weeks to confirm the rest of our returning volunteer roles for this summer! If there is a job you’d LOVE to have this summer – please let us know!

We have a few large volunteer roles that we must fill. Please let us know if you are able to help in the following areas:

    • Concession Directors – This team of individuals are responsible for the concessions stand at home swim meets. It is an important job as it is one of the main methods to generate income for the swim team and allows us to pay for many things. This is a great job to share with a friend! We are always able to get people to volunteer to shop if you give them a list, and we have plenty of volunteers to work during the meets
    • Volunteer Coordinator- work with the Team Reps to find volunteers for various meets. Fill in as a back up volunteer as needed at meets.
    • Donut Friday Coordinator - filled - thank you - Laurie Matz
    • Family Folder Coordinator - filled - thank you - Laurie Matz and Abbie Sebastian
    • End of Season Celebration Coordinator(s)- work with the Team Reps to organize the end of season celebration. This can include sourcing dinner options, ordering cakes, and assisting with set up. This can be done by a single volunteer or a small team.

If you would prefer to volunteer in another capacity, we have lots of opportunities!

Please let us know how you can help – it’s a great way to support your swimmer’s summer swim team experience, get to know your neighbors and volunteering on deck offers the best view of your swimmer(s) in action!
