"Do Good Day"
Truro Clubhouse
Start: 12:00 PM
End: 2:00 PM
(estimated)
Thanks everyone for joining us for our first Do Good Day hosted by Truro Swim and Dive! We are excited to come together as a community and help others. The event will take place at the clubhouse from 12:00 - 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26th. Please come and contribute a minimum of an hour to one of the events below. We do need help to pay for the cost of the supplies and we are asking for a $5/donation per child participating. Here is what we have planned for the day. There are a variety of activities and opportunities for all ages. 1) Make fleece blankets which will be distributed to those in need by the Fire Department across the street on Little River Turnpike. Participants will cut and measure the fleece while tying the ends. All ages can participate and help one another. We hope to be able to donate 12 blankets in total. At the end of the event Laura Strouse will be taking the blankets to the fire station to be donated. Other families are welcome to caravan and meet her there to drop off the donations. 2) Create friendship bracelets with an inspirational message which will be distributed to those who could use encouragement. Friendship bracelets are a great way to make someone smile and remember someone cares. All ages can participate and will be taught how to make the bracelets. 3) Kindness Rocks make everyone smile and can be sprinkled through our parkland and community. Let's integrate messages of hope and inspiration into our artwork! 4) Sort Books for the Food for Others Book Nook. Diane Haspel has been collecting books and needs help sorting and organizing into reading levels and genres. Come help sort the books and/or bring books to donate. Books must be in good condition and appropriate for infants thru upper elementary levels. Volunteers are ideally ages 11 years or older to help with this activity. We need both parent and junior volunteers to help us run the activities. Please sign up to volunteer the day of the event to help everything run smoothly. Volunteers should come into the clubhouse dry and in clothes (not swimsuits). On the sign up link there is a place to indicate what activity your child may prefer so we can ensure we have plenty of resources. This is our first time running this event and we are open to ideas and suggestions for next year. We hope to make this an annual community tradition. Please let us know if you have any questions! Mini Swordfish and Mini Coach Pizza Lunch
Truro Pool
Start: 11:45 AM
End: 12:45 PM
(estimated)
There will be a Pizza Lunch on Tuesday, 6/25 for all Mini-Swordfish and the Minis Coaches! Pizza will arrive at 11:45, so please plan to stay after minis practice and play for a while, and then stay for lunch. We need your help in 2 ways to make sure we have enough food for everyone: 1. Please RSVP on Swimtopia for the event! RSVP YES for everyone (including siblings/parents) who will be eating pizza, so that we are sure to order enough. If you have a sibling who is not on swim team (so not in Swimtopia for an RSVP), please email me at [email protected] to let me know how many will be joining us. The team will cover the cost of the pizzas for the mini-swordfish and the coaches. Siblings and parents are welcome to join in, too, for $2 per person! You can pay cash to Vicki Mansuy on the day of the lunch! 2.Please sign up to help if you can. We need people to bring desserts (single serving, such as cookies, brownies or rice krispie treats), bring drinks (juice boxes), and bring plates and napkins. One I have an approximate headcount, I’ll let volunteers know how many of each item we’ll need. You may submit receipts to the team to be reimbursed for anything you purchase for this event! Email me at [email protected] or chat with me at practice if you have any questions! Vicki Mansuy |

Time Trials @ THA
Truro 4146 Elizabeth Ln, Annandale, VA 22003
Start: 9:00 AM
End: 11:30 AM
(estimated)
Our first meet (Time Trials) is Saturday, 6/15 at Truro. The coaches recommend that swimmers swim all strokes they are close to being legal in at Time Trials. The coaches will inform the younger/newer swimmers what strokes they should swim on Saturday. These times will give the coaches a baseline time for each swimmer to use going forward. Time Trials also gives a chance for Meet officials, Timers, and other volunteers to fine-tune their skills and for new volunteers to learn from the veterans. Time trials follows the standard meet format except that only Truro swimmers compete and there are no relays or IM (and also no mini races which will take place during B meets). There will be no concessions at time trials, so swimmers need to eat before and/or bring snacks. 8:20 am – Swimmers arrive, ready for warm ups 9:00 am – Races begin |
